Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are releasing a composite sketch of one of the suspects who robbed a maintenance supervisor at gunpoint.
The armed robbery occurred at about 11 a.m. Monday, January 21 at the Lakeside Condominiums in Lauderdale Lakes. The victim, Leroy Smith, was walking toward his golf cart when one gunman approached and ordered him to the ground while demanding his wallet. When Smith complied by getting on his knees, a second suspect approached him from behind and snatched his gold necklace.
Smith believes both suspects were armed with guns, and he said they spoke with Haitian accents. He described the first suspect as a dark-skinned black male, 21 to 25 years old, approximately 5’10” tall with a thin build and wearing a cream-colored cap. Smith gave a similar description of the second suspect, adding that he had a low-brush haircut and was wearing washed-out blue jeans. The suspects got away with Smith’s necklace, wallet, keys and two cell phones. Fortunately, Smith was not physically injured.
