Description of Incident:
A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy on early morning patrol stopped the action on a camera repair store burglary.
Around 4 a.m. today, Deputy Hank Juntunen was on routine patrol in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea with his window rolled down when he heard an alarm sounding on Commercial Boulevard. He doubled back to investigate and saw two subjects running from the rear of The Camera Clinic. Dep. Juntunen attempted to stop the pair when they jumped into a car and took off. Dep. Juntunen followed the vehicle into Ft. Lauderdale, then back into Lauderdale-By-The-Sea where they bailed out in the 4600 block of Bougainvilla Drive. The two suspects, identified as Fabian Suarez, 28, and Carlos Ramirez-Martinez, 23, both of Miami, were apprehended after a foot chase with deputies and K-9s.
The suspects’ vehicle contained numerous stolen cameras, various burglary tools and cocaine. A third suspect, described as a white Latin male, was seen fleeing the crime scene on foot. The stolen camera equipment, valued at $21,000, was recovered by deputies and returned to the store owner.
Suarez and Ramirez-Martinez were transported late Friday morning to the BSO Main Jail, where they will encounter one more camera - for a booking photo.
Anyone with information about the third suspect should call BSO Sgt. Carlos Carrillo at 954-640-4240 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.BrowardCrimeStoppers.org.
