SWAT TEAMS TRAIN IN MOCK ATTACK AT PORT
The Broward Sheriff’s Office SWAT team conducted a training Thursday at Port Everglades that involved a series of well-coordinated attacks planned by seven violent domestic terrorists. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection also participated, testing the agencies’ communication and coordination abilities during a large-scale incident. The training tested the skills of BSO’s SWAT Team, Bomb Squad, Communications Department and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue. About 120 participants from the various agencies participated in the training scenario, which lasted throughout the afternoon.
