Ninth Annual Back-to-School Martial Arts Free Tournament

Millennium Middle School

5803 N.W. 94 Ave., Tamarac

The competition will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 7 at Millennium Middle School. It is open to all ages. School-age competitors will receive free school supplies while they last. The tournament is free, but a donation of elementary and middle school level books is welcomed.

Participants will be judged on Weapons, Forms, Self Defense, Sparring and Kendo and Brazilian Ju-Jitsu. First, second and third place medals will be awarded in each category. Competitors must bring their own protective gear and equipment. Hold harmless waivers must be completed and signed prior to the event. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

The tournament was started nine years ago to help needy school-age children get school supplies. The tournament is a success each year due to a partnership with local businesses that sponsor the medallions and school supplies.
