Description of Incident:
The Broward Sheriff's Office Robbery Unit is releasing surveillance video of an armed robbery suspect in the hopes of identifying him before he strikes again.
The unidentified white or Latin male is believed to be responsible for at least four armed robberies since December 26th. Fortunately, no one has been injured, but the suspect did shoot at one of his victims who tried to follow him after he committed one of the robberies.
The first robbery occurred in Oakland Park at a Discount Auto Parts store about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26th. The suspect approached the clerk at the checkout counter and threatened to shoot him unless he opened the cash register. In fear for his life, the clerk ran to the back of the store. The suspect started smashing the register and threw it on the floor. After gaining entry, the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On December 27th, the suspect committed an armed robbery at the Citgo Gas Station located at 3201 West Broward Boulevard about 9:30 a.m. The suspect fled the scene, followed by the clerk. Before escaping, he fired a shot at the clerk but missed. Shortly before 5 p.m. the same day, the armed suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register at Beauty Alliance hair salon, located in the 2900 block of Griffin Road in Dania Beach.
The most recent incident occurred about 12:30 Friday (December 28th) afternoon at the Discount Auto Parts store located at 1741 South State Road 7 near Fort Lauderdale. The suspect was captured on surveillance video struggling to disengage a cash register. Frustrated, he ordered a customer to pass him a screwdriver. The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The armed and dangerous suspect is about five feet nine inches tall, in his mid 20’s, approximately 140 pounds, with black hair and a goatee. His get-away vehicle is an older model white Ford Aerostar van. Anyone with information on the identity and/or whereabouts of the suspect is urged to call BSO Robbery Det.
