Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are looking for an armed robber who went on a shopping spree as he cleaned out the till in a North Lauderdale shoe store.
Just before the 9 p.m. closing on January 17, a man entered the Footlocker store on South State Road 7 and brought a pair of socks to the register. He handed the clerk $20, as if to pay for the socks then jumped the counter, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. Fearing for his life, the male clerk handed over the money from the register. The gunman forced the clerk to the back of the store, where a female co-worker was. The suspect forced the employees to open the safe. When he found out there was no money in the safe, the robber became upset and demanded the male clerk get him two pairs of blue Nike Speedturf shoes, in sizes 8 and 10. The shoes are valued at $135 per pair. The gunman ordered the female clerk to open a second cash register and give him that money. On his way out of the store with the loot, the suspect grabbed two ball caps - one with an Atlanta Falcons logo, the other with a Chicago Bulls emblem and a pair of grey and red Jordan socks.
The black male suspect was wearing sunglasses, a black sweater, black sweat pants, a grey skully and black and red Nike sneakers.
