Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff's Office and Miramar Police detectives are releasing surveillance video of an armed robbery in the hopes of identifying the culprits.
The unidentified trio was caught on tape robbing the McDonald’s located at 3306 South University Drive in Miramar. At approximately 11:30 p.m. on October 25, 2001, the suspects entered the restaurant after one of them used a small caliber handgun and shot at a window before kicking out the glass. The four employees were in the process of closing when confronted by the suspects. The suspects escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries were reported.
The bandits struck again on November 9th, shortly before 2 a.m. at the Miami Subs located at 1955 South State Road 7 near Hollywood. While closing the restaurant, the manager noticed four suspicious males outside the south entrance doors. That’s when one the suspects shot out the door. The four suspects entered the restaurant and the suspect with the gun ordered the manager to go behind the counter. Another suspect emptied the cash registers while the other two suspects kept an eye on the rest of the employees. Before fleeing the scene, the suspects grabbed some chicken nuggets to go. No injuries were reported.
The three unidentified black males are believed to be in their late teens and about five feet six inches tall. One of the suspects usually wears the scary looking mask from the movie “Scream.” Detectives believe one of the other suspects caught on tape was attempting to conceal some sort of permanent markings or tattoos under the clothing he wrapped around both of his biceps. The forth, unidentified armed black male in the Miami Subs robbery is believed to be about five feet ten inches tall with gold teeth on the front top row of his mouth and approximately 18 to 21 years old.
Detectives believe the group is also responsible for a similar robbery in Hallandale on October 23rd at a Subway, located in the 600 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Anyone with information on the identity and/or location of the suspects is urged to call BSO Det. Joe Ventura at (954) 321-4270 or call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
MEDIA NOTE: THE GOOD QUALITY COLOR SURVEILLANCE VIDEO AND STILL PHOTOS (BOTH AVAILABLE FOR YOUR REPRODUCTION AT BSO’S MEDIA RELATIONS OFFICE) ARE FROM THE MCDONALD’S ROBBERY ONLY.
