Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives are looking for two men who robbed and shot a lunch truck driver Friday afternoon.

At about 12:30 pm on Friday, December 21, 2001, 23-year old Miguel Garces was making a stop with his lunch truck at the Foam Factory, Inc. at 3510 NW 53rd St. in unincorporated Broward.

Two unidentified black males approached Garces, stole an undetermined amount of cash from the vendor, and shot him in the upper thigh. Most of the impact from the bullet was taken by Garces’ cell phone, saving the man from more serious injury.

The suspects fled on foot. They may be the same two men seen earlier near the scene in a small, red, older model car.

Both suspects are described as having dreadlocks, being about 5-foot-10, one with a stocky build, the other with a medium build.

Garces was taken to Broward General Medical Center with a minor wound. His injury is not considered to be life threatening.

Anyone with information on this crime should call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
