Description of Incident:

The death of a 24-year-old man, apparently by drowning, is under investigation by the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The fatal incident occurred this morning in a backyard pool at the victim’s house at 705 NE 23rd Terrace in Pompano Beach. Christopher Buchinski, 24, was discovered face-down at the bottom of the pool by his live-in girlfriend (Raina Katz), when she returned home from an early morning shopping trip at about 9 a.m. The woman jumped in the pool and pulled Buchinski to the surface while her friend dialed 911, summoning help from the Broward Sheriff's Office and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue. Paramedics rushed Buchinski to Imperial Point Hospital where he was declared dead at 10:10 a.m.

The cause of death, presumed to be drowning, will be officially established following an autopsy by the Broward Medical Examiner.
