NEITHER DARK, NOR RAIN, NOR HIGH FENCE COULD KEEP THIS DUO FROM THEIR STEELY TASK

Date: August 10, 2017                                     PIO Number: 17-8-12

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the duo caught on camera feverishly laboring to steal more than $35,000 worth of tools from a business in Oakland Park one dark and rainy night in July.

At approximately 10 p.m. July 30, the thieves used large bolt cutters to break through the perimeter fence at Steel Contractors, located at 4444 N.E. 8th Avenue in Oakland Park. Once inside, cameras recorded them as they unbolted generators from the truck beds. They got away with eight Lincoln Electric generators and three Miller welding machines.

The first thief is described as a male with short hair, an athletic frame and a tattoo on his forearm. He wore a black T-shirt, baggy pants, New Balance sneakers, a baseball cap and gloves.

The second suspect is described as a male with a thin athletic build, short dreads and several tattoos on his arms. He wore a red T-shirt, which he used to partially cover his face, black athletic shoes and shorts.

A Chevy Astro van, possibly white in color, and a four-door truck were also captured by cameras at the time of the crime.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact BSO Detective Latefah Lysius at 954-202-3118. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
