Sunday, December 8
9:30 a.m. depart Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach, 831 N. Federal Highway
En route to Markham Park, Sunrise
The 26th Annual Toys in the Sun Run takes to the streets with Broward Sheriff Scott Israel serving as grand marshal of what’s been dubbed the world’s largest motorcycle parade.
30,000 motorcycles and twice as many people are expected to turn out for one of the holiday season’s biggest charity events. A full day of live music, featuring Bret Michaels of Poison, food and merchandise vendors, a huge motorcycle show and a car show will await the arriving motorcycles and four-wheeled spectators at Markham Park. The event benefits the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Motorists should plan accordingly, allowing extra travel time while affected road closures are in effect from 9 a.m. Sunday and continue for approximately four hours, or until all the bikers arrive at the park.
From the casino, the route will be westbound Pembroke Road to Interstate 95 northbound, then west on Interstate 595, exiting at Northwest 136 Avenue in Davie. The procession will continue west on State Road 84 and turn right (north) on International Drive then go west into Markham Park. Northbound Interstate 95 beginning at Hallandale Beach Boulevard will be shut down along with Interstate 595 westbound to Northwest 136 Avenue.
State Road 84 from Flamingo Road to International Drive will also be closed. All associated highway on-ramps in the direction of the procession will be closed to vehicular traffic for the duration. Spectators (and their vehicles) are not permitted to stop on highways or limited access roads.
