On the 10th anniversary of Broward Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Chris Reyka’s death, family, friends and co-workers will gather to honor his life and remember his ultimate sacrifice.

The “Sergeant Chris Reyka Memorial Ride” is sponsored by the 9463 Foundation for Florida’s Fallen Officers. The event will start at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, August 10 in the parking lot of the Walgreens located at 960 S. Powerline Rd. in Pompano Beach. During the program, there will be a rifle and handgun presentation for the 2017 State Ride winners, along with other awards and recognition.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. participants will leave Walgreens and ride to the South Florida National Cemetery at 6501 S. State Rd. 7 in Lake Worth for a sunset service. Dinner will be served at 12265 State Rd. 7 in Boynton Beach following the service at the cemetery.

Motorists can expect some delays during the memorial ride. The ride will leave Walgreens heading north on Powerline Road to Atlantic Boulevard, west to Northwest 31st Avenue, north to the Turnpike, continuing north to Boynton Beach, west to 441, then north on 441 to the cemetery.
