  • Joseph Slootsky, 86, male, Boynton Beach

  • Unknown white male (surveillance video available)

Description of Incident:

A young, fast-food-eating criminal preyed on an 86-year-old victim sitting in his van in the parking lot at McDonald’s, removing $150 and a credit card from his pockets. The victim suffered a laceration and bruise to his left wrist.

The victim told a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy he was sitting in his 2005 Kia van with the window half-open when a “well-groomed man with short dark hair approached him and asked for money.” The victim declined. The robber reached in through the window, grabbed the elderly man and removed an American Express card and cash from his pockets.

Before the robbery, surveillance cameras at McDonald’s captured the suspect entering the restaurant and conducting a transaction with one of the register employees. Another camera shows him near the victim’s van.

In the video the robber appears to be a somewhat muscular man in his early 20’s, with short dark hair and a half-beard wearing a tank top with letters reading ZOOYORK on the front.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Det. Steven Hoover at (954) 321-4209 or Crime Stoppers of Broward County anonymously at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for an anonymous tip that leads to an arrest.

MEDIA NOTE: A clear video of the suspect is available at
