Big Boy Wants a Purse

PIO #12-4-6

He can run fast for a man his size, and he's not afraid to use his agility to get himself a purse.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video in the parking lot of the Walgreens at 3573 N. Federal Hwy. in Pompano Beach.  At around 10 p.m. March 31, a woman is seen exiting her vehicle with her purse in hand as she's putting on her jacket.  She lets a champagne/gold color, older model Nissan pass in front of her as she crosses the parking lot to go inside the pharmacy.  After she crosses, the video shows the Nissan reverse toward the woman.

A corpulant man exits the vehicle and walks toward the entrance of the pharmacy, then runs back toward the car with the woman's purse in-hand and the victim chasing after him.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 6' tall and weighing approximately 225 lbs.  He's seen wearing a white T-shirt with writing on the front and black basketball shorts.

BSO Robbery detectives say the same vehicle was involved in a similar incident that took place March 30 outside the Bru's Room at 235 S. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach.  In that robbery, a black male was behind the wheel and a light-skinned, white or Hispanic male with dreads took the purse of a patron as she made her way inside the business.

Anyone with information about the vehicle, possible suspects or either of these incidents is asked to contact BSO Robbery Detective Victor Carrasquillo at 954-321-4270 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).   Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers on their website www.browardcrimestoppers.org.   A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
