INSTEAD OF GETTING READY FOR IRMA, CROOK STEALS PURSE

Date: Sept. 6, 2017                                                             PIO Number: 17-9-7

The thief probably didn’t count on anyone watching him with nearly everyone in South Florida focused on preparing for Hurricane Irma. However, an eagle-eyed witness saw him steal a purse and alerted the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Around 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 5, Oakland Park deputies immediately responded to the Publix at 1003 E. Commercial Blvd. and talked with the witness. The observer told the deputies that a man went into a vehicle in the grocery store’s parking lot and stole a purse. The deputies quickly found the suspect, 29-year-old Nicholas Rosselle, nearby at the Speedway gas station, 5002 N. Dixie Highway.

The deputies also found the victim’s purse. Rosselle, of Margate, is facing charges of burglary conveyance and petit theft.

Let this be a warning to other criminals that even during a state of emergency our BSO deputies are always ready to respond.
