Tool Drops Tools in Robbery Attempt

PIO 12-4-1

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are releasing surveillance video of a man trying to make a run for his escape out of a Home Depot in West Park carrying a drill in each hand.  He narrowly makes it past security, then drops the tools outside the business as he's chased out of the store.

The incident took place at around 3 p.m. March 15 at the Home Depot located at 1951 S. State Road 7.  Security cameras spot the man as he's eyeing the drills.  He grabs a 20 volt and an 18 volt hammer drill and walks to a register.  The cashier begins to charge the items and the man appears as if he intends to pay for them, but instead grabs the drills and runs out of the store.

He is chased out by a security guard and drops the drills outside the store as he runs away.

BSO detectives are asking anyone with information about this attempted robbery to contact BSO Detective Phillip Love at 954-964-0271 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477).  A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
