Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff's Office detectives have identified one of two television thieves whose exploits were captured on film in early December.
A tipster to Crime Stoppers helped BSO investigators secure a warrant for the arrest of 46-year old Richard W. Gordon of 15830 NW 20th Avenue, Opa Locka. Gordon is a prolific crook who has been arrested twice in Broward County for stealing.
On November 13, 2001, Gordon and an unidentified accomplice walked into a Pompano Beach
K-Mart, went to the stock room, and stole several brand new televisions from the store. The pair hit the same store again on December 1st, but ran off empty handed when an alarm on the store’s rear door sounded. Their latest caper was clearly caught on surveillance video.
The Jamaican-born Gordon, also known as “Droppie”, is laying low and trying to hide from BSO detectives because he knows he will go back behind bars for his latest crime.
A reward of up to $1,000.00 may be available for information leading to the capture of Gordon or his partner in crime. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gordon or his accomplice should call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
Media note: A mug shot of Richard W. Gordon is attached to this release, posted on our website at www.sheriff.org. Additionally, the Media Relations office is still making video of the December 1st crime available at our office, M-F from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
