PICKUP DRIVER KILLED IN OAKLAND PARK CRASH

Description of Incident:

On Saturday, a driver was speeding and ran through a few red lights before fatally crashing into a United States Postal Service truck, according to a Broward Sheriff’s Office’s traffic homicide investigation.

Around 2 a.m. May 6, a silver Toyota pickup was traveling east on West Oakland Park Boulevard when it sped through a red light and into the intersection at Northwest 21st Avenue, striking the postal worker’s vehicle. That driver was headed south on the avenue when the collision happened. Following the impact, the pickup hit a traffic light pole.

Oakland Park Fire Rescue pronounced the pickup driver, Mark Victor, dead at the scene. The other driver, Jorge Vidal, was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
