Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are searching for a man who beat his wife during a domestic violence incident in the presence of their three children, then evaded capture after a SWAT standoff. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, and he is considered armed and dangerous.

At approximately 7:19 p.m. on July 29, BSO deputies responded to reports of a physical altercation between a husband and wife in Oakland Park. Alan Michael Alt pushed and repeatedly struck his wife in the face and head after a verbal altercation. She collapsed to the ground, where he mounted her and struck her again with his fists, elbows and knees. After several minutes, the suspect dismounted and she was able to run out of the house. As a result of the altercation, the victim received a fractured nose and several bruises throughout her body. She also had swelling to her head and face. She was transported to Broward Health North for medical treatment.

The suspect was believed to be armed and inside the home with the couple’s three young children when BSO deputies arrived. After a SWAT standoff, the children were recovered safely, the residence was cleared but the subject was not located. He is mentally unstable and has an undiagnosed bipolar disorder. He is presumed armed and dangerous. An arrest warrant for aggravated battery has been issued.
