A pair of thieves walking through a neighborhood in Cooper City looking for unlocked vehicles to burglarize hit the mother lode when they found a Tesla S P90D with the doors unsecured and the key fob and owner’s wallet inside.  They took the car for a spin and abandoned it in Fort Lauderdale.

A few hours after the theft, surveillance video at a 7-Eleven in Plantation captured a man in a black T-shirt and gray shorts walking into the store to make purchases with the victim’s stolen credit card.

Detectives say the suspect arrived at the 7-Eleven accompanied by a man seen on video walking in before the suspect.  That man is seen wearing a light green T-shirt, blue shorts and sunglasses on his forehead.  Though he might have not been involved in the auto theft, investigators would like to speak with him regarding the incident.

Anyone with information about the theft or who recognizes the suspect or his companion is asked to contact Detective Garvis Gainey at 954-435-2200. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
