BSO PARTICIPATES IN MLK CELEBRATION IN POMPANO BEACH

Sheriff Scott Israel will serve as grand marshal for the City of Pompano Beach parade honoring the great civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who advocated nonviolence and harmony among all races.

The parade will commence at 9 a.m. at the corner of Northwest 8 Street and Northwest 8 Avenue, travel along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and end at Blanche Ely High School. Motorists can expect delays or to be rerouted Monday morning between 8:30 and 10:30 from the 600 block to the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Following the parade, the “Salute to Greatness Celebration” will continue at 10:30 a.m. when participates will gather in the gymnasium at Blanche Ely High School, located at 1201 N.W. 6 Ave., to hear speakers and gospel recording artist and award-winning vocalist Vickie Winans. The theme for this year’s parade and celebration is “The time is always right to do what is right.”
