FORENSICS RESPONSE TEAMS HAVE A BLAST AT TRAINING
LOXAHATCHEE - Crime Scene units from a dozen law enforcement agencies from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties teamed up Thursday for regional training to practice processing evidence at a large-scale explosion. The training scenario involved a mock terrorist attack in which attackers hijacked a crowded transit bus, drove it to a remote location and detonated a bomb, killing everyone on board. Trainers detonated actual explosives in a bus at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office firearms range. After the explosion, which mangled the bus, the crime scene units formed teams and combed through the evidence. The training was sponsored by the Southeast Regional Domestic Security Domestic Security Task Force. The task force is made up of more than 135 agencies who regularly train together to enhance their collective response to major incidents.
