Description of Incident:

A neighbor’s security camera captured a thief as he broke in and got away with an expensive memento and a dangerous weapon. Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are searching for the burglar.

On December 16, Mathew Ladd’s home was ransacked and some very important items were taken. The burglar attempted to enter the victim’s home through various impact windows and caused thousands of dollars of damage in the process. Once inside, the thief stole a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun and the victim’s Rolex watch. The Rolex is silver with a black face and a silver dial. It is engraved on the back with “Professional Solutions On Time On Budget Advanced Roofing.” The watch was given to Ladd as a gift and holds significant sentimental value. Detectives believe the suspect pawned the Rolex at Swap Shop in Fort Lauderdale where it was purchased by an unknown male on January 17, 2014.

A neighbor’s surveillance cameras captured the burglary. The suspect is a black male, approximately 5’7” tall with shoulder-length dreadlocks worn in a ponytail. He wore a black shirt, dark pants and white plastic bags on both hands. The video also captured a black Nissan Altima seen driving past the victim’s home multiple times during the break-in, which is believed to be involved in the crime.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Detective Brian Walker at 954-480-4283 or report anonymous tips to Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or to www.browardcrimestoppers.org online. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
