Broward Sheriff Scott Israel will promote 66 employees Friday morning at a ceremony at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. It will be the largest such ceremony in the agency’s history.

There will be one person promoted to the rank of colonel, three to lieutenant colonel, six to major, 18 to captain, 14 to lieutenant and 18 to sergeant. Six civilian employees will be promoted, as well. The promotions will be made in the departments of law enforcement and detention.

“It’s my honor to promote these deserving employees who will play a key role in the future of BSO,” Sheriff Scott Israel said. “The number of collective years of law enforcement experience that will walk across the stage during this ceremony is impressive.”

The 66 promotional candidates have about 1,200 collective years of experience in law enforcement.

Media note: For a complete list of employees being promoted, contact BSO’s public information office.
