WRONG HAND ROBBER CAUGHT ON CAMERA

 PIO 13-1-10

Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives are searching for a robber who took the proper steps to make sure his fingerprints weren’t left at the scene of the crime by putting on a glove on his left hand, and then used his right hand to commit the crime.

The well-thought-out plan was put into motion November 29 at the Walgreens at 3099 N. SR 7 in Lauderdale Lakes.  Around 10:45 p.m., surveillance cameras are rolling as the suspect walks into the business and stands in line.  As he patiently waits, he removes a glove and puts it on his left hand and is seen slipping merchandise into his pockets.

Once it’s his turn and the cashier rings up his item, he hands the employee the money, but when the register swings open he reaches in with his right hand and takes the cash and runs out.

The suspect is a black male, about 6’ tall, 185 lbs. and is seen wearing a black baseball cap with purple lettering, a black and purple, hooded sweatshirt and gray pants.

Anyone with information about this robbery or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact BSO Robbery Detective Theo Woulard at 954-321-4553 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.  A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.

***Media Note: A good-quality video of the robbery is available on our website www.sheriff.org.  The video shows two camera angles.
