Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide detectives are trying to identify a pedestrian killed early today in a hit-and-run accident in Lauderdale Lakes.

Detectives want to identify both the victim and the hit-and-run driver and are asking for help from the public. BSO District 4 deputies were dispatched to the 4300 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard at about 3:30 a.m. after a passerby noticed a motionless body lying near a bus stop. Arriving deputies and paramedics determined that the man was dead. An examination by the medical examiner later confirmed that he died of injuries sustained when he was struck by a motor vehicle.

BSO THI detectives have yet to find any witnesses to the fatal incident. Metallic silver car parts were recovered from the scene, indicating that the hit-and-run vehicle might have been a metallic silver color.

The unidentified victim is described as a white man, possibly in his late 60s or early 70s, with a very thin or frail build, and graying dark hair. He had no mustache or beard but was unshaven at the time of death. No recent missing person’s reports have been received and a canvas of the area has failed to turn up any leads as to the man’s identity.

Anyone with any information on the deceased victim or the hit-and-run driver is urged to call the Broward Sheriff's Office at 765-4321 or CrimeStoppers, anonymously, at 493-TIPS.
