WIGGED BANK ROBBER JUMPS OVER COUNTER FOR CASH

Description of Incident:

Most bank robbers try to be inconspicuous. They pretend to be bank customers, quietly hand the teller a note and quickly exit the bank without anyone noticing the heists. But the man who held up an HSBC branch last Thursday in Pompano Beach was not concerned with looking suspicious or causing a scene.

The brazen armed suspect walked into the bank at around 9:20 a.m. on July 9, with what was an obvious attempt at a disguise. He wore an ill-fitted, light brown, long haired wig, a surgical mask over his mouth, dark sunglasses, black gloves, a long sleeve, dark colored sweat shirt with a white t-shirt underneath and blue pants.

The man was caught on video as he approached the bank teller with a backpack demanding money. The teller didn’t quite hear the customer’s request and said “excuse me?”. The thief then pointed a gun at her and repeated his request. The impatient suspect then walked to the next teller counter, jumped over it and approached the bank employee. The teller handed the money to the suspect; he placed it in his backpack, jumped back over the counter and fled the scene on foot.

The man is described as a black male possibly in his 30s, of stocky build, approximately 5’7” in height, with a goatee.
