BSO WANTS TO GIVE TIME TO PATIENT ROBBER

13-4-11

This armed robber is in no hurry.  On January 31, he walked into an Oakland Park hotel and chatted with the front desk clerk for a few minutes.  He left and returned the next day.   On Feb. 1, he hung out in the lobby for over 20 minutes and then approached the counter to rob the clerks at gunpoint.

Surveillance cameras at the Universal Palms Hotel, 4900 N.W. 9 Ave., Oakland Park, captured the male as he spoke with the hotel employee around 9:25 p.m. Jan. 31.  The next day, at almost the same time, he was seen pacing around in the lobby with other patrons nearby.  A male and a female, oblivious to what was happening just a few feet away from them, are observed in the background as the suspect approached the front desk, took a gun out of a bag and demanded money.  The two employees gave the robber the cash from the registers and he left.

The victims believe they’ve seen the suspect in the area before the robbery but have not seen him since.  He’s a white male, approximately 5’10” tall, 225 pounds, bald and in his late 40s to early 50s.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about this robbery should contact Detective Leonard Charla at 954-321-4270 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.  A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
