  • At least three unidentified males (only two are seen on video)

Description of Incident:

Two burglars were caught on home surveillance video resting in the backyard of a Dania Beach townhome on Christmas night after their efforts to commit a burglary were futile. Detectives are seeking the public’s help identifying the pair.

The video shows the first suspect around 10:15 p.m. ringing the doorbell at the home at 3905 SW 47 Street. No one answers the door and the suspect walks to an awaiting dark pickup, possibly an F-150. Around 10:40 p.m., a second suspect goes into the backyard with a firearm covered with a towel. A video camera at the rear of the home records the man as he fires at least nine shots at the sliding glass door, then tries to kick through the door. His accomplice enters the yard, and together they continue trying to kick the door down but are unsuccessful. The suspects then stop to rest, sitting on a hammock and on the ground. They chat for about three minutes, before leaving defeated and empty-handed.  Luckily, no one was home at the time of the incident.

The resident of the home had filed a police report on November 1 after someone stole his motorcycle from the front of the house. He had since purchased another motorcycle, which he kept inside the home.

The first suspect, seen ringing the doorbell, is a light-skinned, possibly black or Hispanic male, of slim build, with a short afro. He’s wearing a long-sleeve, button-down shirt and jeans and has a hair pick in his hair. The second suspect, who shoots at the door, is a stocky-build, white male. He’s wearing a tank top, jeans and a white hat.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspects or this armed burglary is asked to contact BSO Dania Beach Detective Christopher DeGiovanni at 954-518-0138. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
