Description of Incident:

Three South Florida women are in the Broward Sheriff's Office Main Jail after detectives say they drugged a man, stole his car, and used the vehicle in their escort service.

On November 10, 2002, according to investigators, 26-year old Gwendolyn Necaster met 25-year old Gautam Vora at a rave club at 3299 N. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. The two Deerfield Beach residents ended up at Necaster’s home at 610 SE 2nd Avenue where Vora was offered and consumed the illegal drug GHB, commonly known as a date-rape drug. The two then went to a home at 1636 NE 48th Court in Pompano Beach. Necaster went into the residence while Vora waited outside. It wasn’t long before he passed out from the GHB.

While Vora lay unconscious, Necaster stole his car and drove it back to the rave club. She left the car there and took her boyfriend’s vehicle back to her home. When she arrived home, she and her boyfriend argued and Necaster moved out.

Through a mutual friend, Necaster ended up staying at the home of 40-year old Shelly Lantz. Detectives say Lantz and another woman, 31-year old Bridgett Spell of 5831 SW 32nd Street in Davie, were running an escort service from Lantz’s home at 1062 South Military Trail in Deerfield Beach. They say Necaster started working in the escort service and the women soon began using Vora’s stolen car to further their business.

When, on November 13th, Necaster learned that the Broward Sheriff's Office was investigating the theft of Vora’s car, she moved out of Lantz’s home and checked into a Days Inn at 4211 North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. When she saw detectives in the hotel parking lot on November 15th, she fled.

BSO detectives caught-up with Necaster, Lantz, and Spell on November 18, 2002. During interviews, the women admitted to using the stolen car in the escort business and for purchasing illegal narcotics. Charged with Grand Theft Auto, they each face up to five years in prison.
