Following the March 22 release of surveillance video showing a bun-wearing woman stealing bottles of booze from a Weston Publix, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives got the information they were hoping for.

A viewer identified the suspect as 31-year-old Shellee Ross.  With that information, investigators learned she was due to meet with her probation officer in late April.  On April 27, the Weston Crime Suppression Team took her into custody without incident.

Around 1:20 p.m. January 26, security cameras at the Publix at 1170 Weston Rd. captured Ross strolling in with a large black and white tote bag, which she placed inside her cart.

She grabbed a box of oranges and then appeared again on screen as she arrived at the wine aisle.  Ross grabbed two bottles of champagne at a time as she began to fill her cart. After grabbing four bottles of Brut, she made her way down the aisle and proceeded to reach for seven to eight bottles of pinot grigio from the top shelf.

She wandered around the store, slipping at least eight of the bottles into her tote bag, and then pushed her empty cart to the front of the store before casually walking out.

Ross is facing one count of petit theft and a violation of probation.
