Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help in finding a mentally disabled Deerfield Beach man.

William Benton is 39 years old, but he has the mental capacity of an eight-year-old and BSO detectives are concerned about his welfare. Benton’s mother reported him missing early today after he failed to come home Wednesday evening. He was last seen in the 1700 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard at about 5 p.m.

Benton does not have his medication and may be agitated. He is slightly autistic and wears a dog tag necklace. He is known to frequent the Las Olas and Victoria Park areas of Fort Lauderdale, in addition to Deerfield Beach.

Benton was last seen wearing a navy blue tank top shirt and faded tan shorts. He is 39 years old, is 5’10” and weighs 160 pounds.
