Description of Incident:
An Oakland Park gas station owner was shot during a robbery attempt and surveillance video shows the suspect and a person of interest.
Just before 8 p.m. Sunday, a masked gunman stormed into the Valero gas station at 1251 NE 45 St. and demanded money from the owner, Ubaldo Tello, 61. When the victim didn’t respond to the robber’s demands fast enough, he opened fire on Tello, striking him in the shoulder and neck then fled, empty-handed. Tello was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center by Oakland Park Fire Rescue where he was listed in critical condition.
The gunman is described as a black male and was wearing a ski mask. Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives are considering another man, seen on surveillance video about an hour before the shooting, a person of interest.
