A sleeping 5-year-old boy was seriously injured when his mother’s boyfriend fired a gunshot through a bedroom wall. Kamoy Sharpe, 27, told Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives that he didn’t think the .357 Magnum was loaded when he pulled the trigger.
Anthony Morris was taken to the hospital by his mother and Sharpe. It’s unclear whether he was hit by the bullet or by debris.
Sharpe then made arrangements with three friends - Shanek Heron, Kenata Williams and Samaro Spencer - to remove the gun from the home and hide it. Eventually, detectives located the weapon and put it into evidence. All four were charged with tampering with evidence. Sharpe was also charged with child neglect and violation of probation. Williams was also charged with violation of probation.
Morris is expected to survive.
