Operation Found & Forgotten
BSO is asking the public for help identifying the people profiled on this page. In each case and for various reasons, the common methods of identification – fingerprints, dental records, witness accounts – have failed. So investigators have been unable to notify the victims' families of their deaths or find their killers. Please look at the photos, read the profiles and ask yourself if anything is familiar. Your tip might be the one to lend solace to a grieving family or put a killer in jail.
As you see each case's photo slideshow, you can click on photos to enlarge them. Please note that some of the content on this page is not appropriate for children.

Body Found: May 30, 1967 Crime Scene: The body was hidden in a drainage canal culvert in the Florida Everglades near Griffin Road and U.S. 27 in unincorporated Broward County. Description: He was a white male with dark brown, curly hair, large acne scars on his face and very bad teeth. He was about 5'9" tall and weighed 165-185 pounds. He was wearing a medium, iridescent blue-gold, long-sleeved, button down Van Heusen shirt with a collar, white Bermuda shorts, black socks and black Thom McCann loafers and black Jockey bikini briefs, size 32-36. He also wore a necklace with beads. Approx. Age: between 35 and 45 Investigation: Detectives received a tip that the man may have been known as "Tommy Terrific" and that he had an arrest history in Michigan that once landed him in the federal penitentiary. Clues: - He smoked Salem cigarettes
- He wore a gold ring that was found on the body
- A door key from McCrory’s 5 & 10 Cent was in his pocket

Description: The victim was a black female between 5'2" - 5'4" tall and 110 - 120 pounds. She had a medium afro. She was wearing a dark blue blouse and a light checkered skirt. Approx. Body Found: May 21, 1973 Crime Scene: Body was found in a drainage ditch along Nob Hill Road just South of State Road 84 in unincorporated Broward County near Davie. Description: She was a white female whose body was decomposed. She was approximately 4'6" tall and weighed 95 pounds. She was wearing Wrangler jeans that were cut off just above the ankle, a size 15 denim shirt, a pair of underwear with the words "Give a Damn" embroidered on the front and a pair of white clogs. Approx. Age: 14-20 Clues: - Photos of white clogs and “Give a Damn” underwear.
- The victim chewed pink bubble gum.

Body Found: Apr 23, 1974 Crime Scene: The crime scene was a canal near a wooded area along Hiatus Road, about two and a half miles south of State Road 84 in unincorporated Broward County near Davie. Description: She was a white woman with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was 5'9" tall and weighed 150 pounds. Her clothing included a size 42-44, white, Fruit of the Loom t-shirt, light blue bikini underwear and blue jeans. She also wore a brown, Indian-pattern belt, size 30 and had a green rubber band around her right wrist. Approx. Age: 40 Investigation: Her death was ruled a drowning, but she had abrasions on her face, hips and legs. Clues: - She had a 6-inch hysterectomy scar on her abdomen.
- She had a full upper denture plate.

He was about 5'7" and weighed between 140 and 180 pounds. Approx. Age: 25-40 Investigation: The remains were skeletal and lacked clothing or jewelry. Investigators believe he may have been killed elsewhere one to three months before the body was discovered. Clues: - He was missing a molar on the right side in his lower jaw and another on the upper left.

Body Found: Feb 26, 1978 Crime Scene: A wooded area behind a house east of the Florida Turnpike and south of Hillsboro Boulevard in unincorporated Deerfield Beach. Description: He had short, dark brown hair and was between 5'2" and 5'8" tall. He weighed 110 - 150 pounds. He was wearing a light brown, long-sleeved shirt with a floral and bird design and size 31", light blue, polyester trousers with a 29" inseam. The cuffs were folded up 2 1/4" inches. He also wore green underwear, multi-colored yellow, green and brown socks and a pair of black Thom McCann shoes with 2-inch heels. Approx. Age: 18 - 25 Investigation: The time of death likely occurred between late 1977 and January 1978. The remains were skeletal. Clues: - Photos of the pants, shoes and shirt with unique floral and bird design

Body Found: Apr 18, 1981 Crime Scene: A drainage ditch along the roadway next to the Homestead Extension of the Florida Turnpike. Description: He was a white male with brown hair who was 5'5" and weighed between 130 and 140 pounds. He wore dark green, corduroy trousers with a 28 1/2 inch waist and a medium National shirt. He wore blue or dark green underwear and brown shoes with no socks. Approx. Age: late 20s - early 30s Investigation: He had three insulin-type syringes in his pockets that may have been used for illegal drugs. He head been dead several months when his body was found. Clues: - He was probably right handed.

He was wearing a long-sleeved, grey shirt with silver stripes, a maroon vest, maroon pants, size 6 ½, brown, clog-type shoes. An Indian chief head ring with purple stones for eyes was on his left ring finger. A gold ring with a square, light blue stone was on his left pinky finger, and he wore Timex watch. Approx. Age: 20 - 25 Investigation: The victim had been deceased at the location for approximately 2 weeks. Clues: - Complex dental prosthesis on his upper teeth

Body Found: Sep 19, 1983 Crime Scene: A vacant field near the Pompano Airfield in the 1800 block of N.E. 5th Ave., Pompano Beach. Description: White female with a homemade Playboy Bunny tattoo on her left abdomen and bright red nail polish. She was wearing a three-leaf clover earring in her right ear and horseshoe-mushroom earrings in her left ear. She had been dead for about three days when she was found. Approx. Age: 21 Investigation: In July 2008, the victim was identified as Tina Moore after her partial fingerprints were resubmitted to Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Investigators are still looking for Tina’s family and her killer. Clues: - She used an alias of Mary Ann Lambert
- She may have been born in Brooklyn, N.Y.
- She had been arrested for prostitution and may have worked as an adult dancer

Clues: - He was wrapped in a two-tone brown comforter.
- He had extensive dental work with gold fillings.
- He was killed within one hour after eating a spaghetti dinner.

Approx. Age: 40 Investigation: The man had been lying on the railroad tracks. The engineer of an approaching train saw him but was unable to stop in time. Clues: - He had $59.26 and an empty cigarette pack in his pocket.
- He was possibly a resident of a wooded area nearby known as "The Jungle," which was frequented by homeless people.

Age: 30 Investigation: The man's skeletel remains were found inside the house after it had been fully engulfed in flames. Drug paraphernalia was found nearby. He was 5'1" and weighed 142 pounds. He wore no clothing but several items were found on the canal bank. Approx. Age: early 30s Clues: - There were button-fly blue jeans, blue and yellow sneakers, a plaid, short-sleeved, button-down shirt and a pair of socks - one brown, one gray - on the canal bank.
- There was $60 in the pocket of the jeans but no identification.

Description: She was a white female with brown, medium-length curly hair and brown eyes. She was 5'3" - 5'4" tall and weighed 108 lbs. She was wearing blue jeans, a pink and white striped short-sleeved sweater and had no shoes. She wore a ring and Seiko wrist watch. Approx. Age: 30s - 40s Investigation: The Medical Examiner ruled her death an overdose, and an autopsy showed that she had swallowed a bag of cocaine before her death. Clues: - Facial sketch
- The victim had a tattoo of a butterfly on the lower left part of her abdomen

Age: 20-30 Clues: - Photos of jogging suit and the sleeping bag in which she was found.

Approx. Age: 20 - 25 Investigation: Because the remains included only a torso, identification was especially difficult. Clues: - The severe curvature of her spine may have caused the victim to walk with a limp and lean to the right.

Body Found: May 4, 1993 Crime Scene: Atlantic Ocean, 2 nautical miles off the coast of Deerfield Beach. Description: He was a Hispanic male with brown hair, a mustache and brown eyes. He weighed 116 lbs. and was 5'3" - 5'4" inches tall. He wore a blue zipper jacket, pants with a belt, black socks and was in a black, rubber inner tube. Approx. Age: late 20s - early 30s Investigation: Investigators thought he may have come from Cuba. He carried no identification but had photographs and scraps of paper with addresses in his pocket. One piece of paper said only "USA." Clues: - composite sketch

Body Found: Oct 24, 1993 Crime Scene: Atlantic Ocean, 3.8 miles east of Hollywood. Description: She was a Hispanic woman with brown hair and brown eyes. She was 5'1" tall and weighed about 90 pounds. She was wearing brown pants, a halter top and blue sneakers. Approx. Age: 35-45 Investigation: The Medical Examiner's Office determined she had died more than a week before boaters found her floating in the water. A homemade raft was found floating nearby, and the body of a Hispanic male was found the same day in Miami-Dade County. Back to the top

Body Found: Feb 21, 1994 Crime Scene: A canal near Mac's Fish Camp, unincorporated Broward County. Description: He was a black man with very short brown hair and brown eyes, a short mustache and goatee. He was wearing a blue shirt, floral print jeans and brown shoes. He was 5'8" tall and 132 pounds. Approx. Age: 35-45 Investigation: A few days before his body was discovered, witnesses told investigators that the victim had mentioned to people at Mac's Fish Camp that he knew someone who lived just off the campgrounds. Though he carried no identification, the man had a piece of paper with the name Jean Ronald Destin and a Miami phone number. The man who answered the phone at that number repeatedly said he did not know the dead man. Clues: - He had a small handbag on a chain around his left wrist.

He weighed 100-110 pounds. He had dark hair. Approx. Age: early 20s Investigation: The body was decapitated and partially dismembered, so it was particularly difficult to identify. Clues: - He had a vertical scar just below the knee on his right leg.

Age: 50-60 Investigation: His suicide note revealed that he had been depressed, was in poor health, lacked money and resented the government. He wrote that he could not afford the $900 he needed for his medication. Clues: - He had a white, metal Revlon pocket knife and a single key in his pocket.
