Employee(s) of the Month

Recently, Deputy Matthew Palmieri, assigned to the BSO Harbor Unit, assisted Strategic Investigations with locating several packages of cocaine that were thrown into the ocean approximately seven miles out from Port Everglades. The drug traffickers had been taken into custody along with their boat and some of the drugs. While patrolling the area, Deputy Palmieri observed a strange object floating in the water. Upon closer examination, he realized the object was actually one of the drug traffickers who jumped overboard and rescued him from the water. It appears he had been in the water for several hours. Due to Deputy Palmieri's keen observation and his ability to act quickly he saved the suspect's life.
