In March 2001, the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea contracted with BSO to provide its law enforcement services. Employee of the Month

Deputy Charles Pickell

The Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea enjoys a low crime rate as a direct result of the deputies that patrol the district. Nuisance crimes, such as public drunkenness, trespassing and disorderly behavior at bus benches are often a community concern. Deputy Charles Pickell recognized the issue and took necessary actions to tackle the problem. Noting that several of the offenders were homeless, Dep. Pickell established a rapport with them and directed them to numerous Broward Outreach programs. Dep. Pickell also provided transportation to shelters. Clearly he made a positive difference in the lives of the homeless individuals he assisted. As a direct result of his efforts, many of the nuisance concerns of the community were met. For his outstanding efforts, Dep. Charles Pickell received employee of the month honors.
